How to stay safe from electric shock in this rainy season?

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has released a list of safety measurements to avoid any kind of electrocution resulted from the rains in this season. The preventive measures ranges from personal precaution to the usage of quality products in terms of electric circuits inside houses and commercial spaces.
Use electrical gadgets with ISI quality mark bought from certified electrical outlets to avoid any kind of power leakages, short circuits or electric accidents.
  • Inspecting the wiring and connectivity on a regular basis will ensure more safety in houses and commercial lines.
  • If you find any kind of voltage fluctuations or abnormality in power lines immediately inform the nearest electricity board for proper measurements.
  • You need to be extra careful if there are children in houses especially during the rainy season where lots of electric accident takes place.
  • During the festive season or occurrence of any neighborhood holy functions it is a must to give prior information to territorial officer of Tangedco belonging to  sections or sub-divisions or circle offices for coordinating the common power supply along with safety measurements.
  • Laying of underground cables should be done with extra caution. All the cables must have earth leakage protection connected to a load of 5KW.
  • Never hang wet clothes over the power lines as it may lead to serious accidents and common street power provision.
  • Always stay away from electric poles, wirings, fencing and other distributive construction.
  • Do not fire crackers near electric poles and other junctions in the street.
  • Parking your trucks near electric transformers and poles is not recommended as it may interrupt the uniform distribution in case of any mishaps.
  • Unauthorized building drawing power lines from outside transformers or lines should be surveilled properly to avoid any kind of illegal mishaps and abnormality in state owned power cables and junctions.
