In Tamil Nadu, directorate of public health has intensified fever surveillance

Recently in a week of time there were 2 cases of deaths due to swine flu and this shocked many. The news that has come out now is directorate of public health has intensified fever surveillance in the state of Tamil Nadu. As per Union Health Ministry data, from the month of January to 23rd of September 2018, there were 114 swine flu cases and as many as three persons died due to swine flu.
Director of public health, Mr. Kolandaswamy spoke about how in TN fever surveillance was intensified and also reissued treatment protocol. He said that had wash campaigns in schools and in public places would be beneficial. Doctors must be approached immediately by those who have high fever and sore throat.
He later spoke about how medical professionals were given instructions about giving Tamiflu tablets if they come across people with the above said symptoms. To prevent this swine flu from spreading frequent washing of hands was stressed. He finally threw light on the disinfecting the surfaces touched by the hands in public transport or in any other public place.
It must not be forgotten that on Monday, 1st of October 2018, a deputy tahsildar in Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare department in the Kotagiri circle of the Nilgris district died of suspected swine flu. There was another woman who was admitted to CMCH for having symptoms of swine flu and she also passed away. It is important to note that swine influenza is a virus that is common in the pigs. This could also affect humans as well as the birds causing deaths.
