Good news for all the students and parents belonging to the Tamil Nadu state. It is now said that beginning from this year the counselling for engineering seats for the students would be done online. This would ease the burden on students and their parents as they no longer have to come to Chennai for engineering seat counselling.
There are as many as 550 engineering colleges all over TN and students are admitted to these colleges through single window counselling. List is prepared based on the marks obtained by the students plus on the availability of seats etc. The parents and students have to come all the way from their places for counselling at Anna University in Chennai and this has been a huge issue.
Yesterday the minister for higher education Mr Anbhazhagan spoke about how students and parents no longer have to come from long distances for sake of their counselling as counselling would be done through online from this year onwards. He also said that arrangements have been going on in this regard and it has reached an important stage now,
It is important to note that Professor Mr Raymond Uthariaraj head of the department of computer science and engineering has been appointed as the secretary of the counselling committee. He also hinted that the counselling works are taken care of by this professor.
It is now said that for the sake of students who would take part in this online counselling computer centres would be opened in as many as 32 districts in TN. These computer centres would have high class internet facilities and students could take part in counselling. For those students who have the internet facility in their house this counselling is made very easy as they could take part in the counselling from their house itself and select their preferred courses in the engineering colleges.
