In a major milestone for green technology, India has launched its first hydrogen-fuel passenger vessel, built with indigenous tech and capable of carrying 50 passengers up to eight hours on a single hydrogen refill. The vessel uses a low-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell system and also integrates battery and solar technologies for efficient power management.
This eco-friendly boat represents a leap toward sustainable inland waterway transport, cutting emissions and noise while advancing India’s net-zero goals. Officials highlighted its role in promoting clean tech adoption in public transport and eco-tourism, aligning with broader environmental and smart mobility ambitions for the next decade.
