🍍😋Let’s Make Pineapple Puttu – A Super Tasty Delight That Melts in Your Mouth!

A unique, sweet version of traditional Kerala puttu, with the tropical punch of pineapple. Perfect for breakfast or as an evening snack!


🧾 Ingredients:

  • Rice flour (puttu podi) – 1 cup
  • Ripe pineapple – ½ cup (finely chopped)
  • Grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Sugar or jaggery – 2–3 tbsp (adjust to taste)
  • Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
  • Ghee – 1 tsp (optional)
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Water – as needed

👩‍🍳 Preparation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Puttu Flour:
    • Add a pinch of salt to the rice flour.
    • Sprinkle water little by little and mix till the flour becomes moist and crumbly (should hold shape when pressed but break apart easily).
  2. Steam the Pineapple:
    • In a pan, sauté the chopped pineapple with sugar or jaggery until soft and juicy. Add cardamom powder. You can also add a spoon of ghee for extra aroma.
  3. Layering the Puttu:
    • In a puttu kutti (puttu maker), start with 1 tbsp grated coconut.
    • Add a layer of moist puttu flour, then a spoon of sweetened pineapple.
    • Repeat the layers until the mould is full, ending with coconut.
  4. Steam for 5–7 minutes:
    • Steam until you get the aroma of cooked pineapple and the puttu is firm.

🍽️ Serving Suggestion:

Serve warm. No side dish needed — it’s naturally sweet and flavorful. Great with banana or a glass of warm milk!
