Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) in Delhi has inaugurated a state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to synthesis and thermoelectric materials research, marking a significant boost for India’s advanced materials science ecosystem. Equipped with cutting-edge instruments, this lab enables experiments under extreme temperature conditions — crucial for developing next-generation energy solutions like thermoelectric devices that can convert waste heat into electricity. The facility also supports research into high-performance materials for electronics, automotive, medical implants, and defense applications.
Funded by the Department of Science and Technology, this research hub is expected to attract collaborations across industry and academia while serving as a hands-on training center for students and budding scientists. It aligns with India’s broader push to strengthen its scientific R&D capabilities in areas with potential commercial impact and global competitiveness.
