🥞✨ Perfect Dosa Batter at Home — Step by Step

🛒 Ingredients:

  • Raw rice / dosa rice – 2 cups
  • Urad dal (whole or split) – ½ cup
  • Fenugreek seeds (methi) – ½ tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – as needed

👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Method:

Step 1: Wash & Soak

  • Wash rice, urad dal, and methi separately.
  • Soak rice for 5–6 hours and dal+methi for 4–5 hours.

Step 2: Grind Dal

  • Grind urad dal first with little water till fluffy and smooth.

Step 3: Grind Rice

  • Grind soaked rice to slightly coarse paste.

Step 4: Mix Batter

  • Combine both batters in a bowl. Add salt and mix well using your hand.

Step 5: Ferment

  • Cover and keep in warm place for 8–12 hours or overnight until doubled and bubbly.

Step 6: Make Dosa

  • Mix batter gently, add water if thick.
  • Heat tawa, spread batter thin, drizzle oil, cook till golden and crispy.

Step 7: Serve Hot

  • Serve with coconut chutney and sambar 😋

💡 Tips:

  • Add a spoon of cooked rice while grinding for extra crispiness.
  • Use iron tawa for best texture.
