India has unveiled its first indigenous driverless car prototype named WIRIN, a collaboration among Wipro, IISc and RV College of Engineering Bengaluru.
Built to handle India-specific challenges (unpredictable traffic, stray animals, uneven roads) using AI, computer vision, robotics and V2X communication, this prototype marks a major milestone for self-driven mobility in India. It signals that home-grown research is geared toward real-world conditions and could pave the way for domestically developed autonomous vehicles in future.
