India is making significant strides in artificial intelligence with the selection of Sarvam AI to develop the country’s first homegrown large language model (LLM) under the IndiaAI Mission. This initiative aims to create an AI model tailored to Indian languages and dialects, enhancing accessibility and fostering innovation within the nation.
Sarvam AI will receive support from the government, including access to 4,000 GPUs for six months to facilitate the development and training of the model. Collaborations with entities like Microsoft and AI4Bharat will further bolster this endeavor, ensuring the model’s effectiveness and relevance to India’s diverse linguistic landscape.
