The Maharashtra government has approved a landmark AVGC-XR (Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics & Extended Reality) Policy for 2025, giving the green signal to a Hi-Tech Media Park in Nagpur with an investment of Rs 3,268 crore. The plan is to create AVGC-XR parks, metaverse infrastructure, motion capture studios, and AI-based animation labs across Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, among others.
With this policy, Maharashtra hopes to attract private investments totaling Rs 50,000 crore and generate about 200,000 high-skilled jobs. Offering benefits like 24×7 operations, special land allocation, and extra FSI (Floor Space Index) for AVGC-XR ventures, the government is clearly aiming to boost creative tech and immersive media industries as major drivers for both economic growth and employment.
