💸 1. UPI Transaction Policy Changes
What changed?
- The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced new limits and charges for merchant-based UPI transactions, especially for credit cards linked via UPI (like Rupay Credit on UPI).
Details:
- UPI transactions below ₹2,000 remain free for personal users.
- Merchant transactions above ₹2,000 using linked credit cards may now incur interchange fees (up to 1.1% depending on the sector).
- Banks may also implement limits on daily high-value UPI usage per user.
💡 Note: Normal peer-to-peer (P2P) UPI transfers (e.g., GPay, PhonePe) are not affected for now.
💳 2. Changes in Credit Card Protection Policies
What changed?
- New RBI guidelines and card network policies make it mandatory for banks to:
- Offer fraud protection coverage for unauthorized transactions.
- Provide auto-blocking features on suspicious activity.
- Send real-time alerts for every swipe, tap, or online use.
Customer Responsibility:
- Users must report fraudulent transactions quickly (within 3 days) to get full refund eligibility.
- Delay in reporting may reduce liability coverage.
🛡️ Cards now include optional insurance add-ons for theft/loss protection.
✈️ 3. Air Travel Fare Hike
What changed?
- Major airlines in India (like Indigo, Air India, Vistara, etc.) have increased base fares due to:
- Rising aviation fuel costs
- User Development Fees (UDF) hike at airports
- Seasonal demand (holiday & business travel surge)
Impact:
- Domestic flight fares may go up by 8–15% on average.
- International flights may see a ₹500–₹1500 rise per ticket on some routes.
