Indian Railways has begun piloting face-recognition-based ticketing at select stations, allowing passengers to enter platforms without physical tickets or QR scans. The system uses Aadhaar-linked verification and improves crowd management during peak travel periods.
Officials say this technology will reduce queues, prevent ticket fraud, and enhance passenger convenience. If successful, the system could be rolled out nationwide, modernising one of the world’s largest rail networks.
