Apple is accelerating its shift in manufacturing to India, with new plants by Tata Electronics in Hosur and Foxconn in Bengaluru commencing iPhone production. This strategic move aims to reduce dependence on China amid global trade tensions.
The Foxconn facility, with a $2.6 billion investment, is expected to produce iPhone 16 and 16e models, creating approximately 50,000 jobs. India now accounts for about 18% of global iPhone production, a figure projected to rise as Apple continues to invest in the region.
