- Name: Chennai One (the “One City, One Ticket” transport/ticketing app).
- By Whom: Developed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA).
- When: It is being launched on Monday.
🔧 Key Features
- Integrates multiple public transport modes under a single QR-based ticket: buses, metro, suburban rail, plus para-transit / last-mile services (autos, cabs etc.).
- Journey planning, real-time updates on arrivals and departures.
- Supports digital payment methods (UPI, cards etc.), making the ticketing cashless.
- Multilingual support (Tamil, English, Telugu, maybe others) to cover diverse users.
🌐 Bigger Plan
- Alongside the app, the government is releasing a Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP): a 25-year roadmap to guide transport developments in the Chennai metropolitan area.
- Goal is smoother connectivity, more convenience, reduced congestion & lower emissions, by encouraging use of public and non-motorised transport.
