New Delhi safety measures aim to protect online users nationwide
On June 17, Google announced a Safety Charter for India, introducing AI-driven protections to shield users from cyberfraud—particularly UPI-based scams that cost ₹1,087 crore in 2024. The charter will deploy real-time detection of deepfakes, phishing, and AI-generated scams, targeting savings of up to ₹20,000 crore in losses this year.
Google’s initiative includes plans for quantum-ready infrastructure to secure enterprises, reflecting a strong commitment to both personal and institutional online safety. This aligns with India’s expanding digital ecosystem and growing dependence on online payments, ensuring trust and resilience in everyday digital interactions.
