🤖 OpenAI Rolls Out Group Chats in ChatGPT

OpenAI has introduced a new “Group Chats” feature for its generative AI chatbot ChatGPT which allows up to 20 people to collaborate in a shared conversation alongside the AI. The feature is currently in pilot in regions like Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan.
Within the group chat, users can share links, files and queries, and the AI acts almost like a facilitator in the discussion (for example, helping plan a trip, summarise a meeting, or assist in a collaborative project). The roll-out isn’t yet India-wide, but given India’s strong AI adoption it’s likely to come soon.
Why it matters: This is a step beyond one-on-one with AI — moving toward collective AI-assisted decision-making. For Indian workplaces, study groups or communities, this could reshape how we use AI in group contexts rather than just solo queries.
