🥭 Mango Wheat Puttu – Soft & Fruity Version

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Ripe mango – ½ to 1 cup (pureed or finely chopped)
  • Warm water – as needed
  • Grated coconut – ¼ cup
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Cardamom powder – a pinch (optional, for aroma)

👩‍🍳 Preparation Steps:

  1. Prepare the flour:
    • Roast wheat flour lightly.
    • Add a pinch of salt and cardamom powder.
  2. Add mango:
    • Mix in pureed mango (or very finely chopped ripe mango).
    • Then gradually sprinkle warm water to get a crumbly, moist texture — not sticky.
  3. Rest:
    • Let the mixture rest for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Layer in steamer:
    • In the puttu kutti, layer grated coconut, then mango-wheat mixture, then coconut again.
    • Repeat till full.
  5. Steam:
    • Steam for 5–7 minutes on medium flame until a lovely aroma comes out.

🍴 Taste & Serving Tips:

  • Serve warm as is — it’ll be mildly sweet and soft.
  • For extra indulgence, drizzle with ghee or coconut milk.
  • Kids love it with banana slices or a sprinkle of jaggery on top.
