🌉 Chenab Bridge Inauguration on June 6: World’s Highest Railway Bridge

India is poised to achieve a historic milestone with the inauguration of the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2025. Located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, the bridge stands 359 metres above the Chenab River, making it 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower. Spanning 1,315 metres, this steel arch bridge is engineered to withstand earthquakes, winds up to 260 kmph, and extreme weather conditions, with a projected lifespan of 120 years.

The Chenab Bridge is a pivotal part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) and symbolizes the first-ever rail connectivity to Kashmir. It will significantly reduce travel time between Katra and Srinagar from 6-7 hours by road to about 3 hours by train, boosting tourism and economic development in the Valley. The bridge stands as a monumental example of India’s engineering excellence and infrastructure modernization.
