India witnessed a groundbreaking medical milestone when PGIMER Chandigarh successfully performed its first robot-assisted vasovasostomy using the da Vinci Surgical System on July 9, 2025. The advanced robotic platform enabled microsurgical precision—offering 3D visualization, needle stability, and reduced surgeon fatigue—resulting in a quick, complication-free recovery for the 43-year-old patient. This innovation positions India alongside a select group of countries capable of offering robotic solutions in andrology, and PGIMER aims to publish the procedure’s outcomes to encourage wider use of robotics in microsurgery.
