- Since late 2022, Chennai’s Marina Beach features a permanent wooden pathway, running approximately 263 m from the service road to the high tide line near Vivekananda House.

- Balloon-wheel wheelchairs are provided and parked in a storage container near the path. Reserved parking spots have also been designated for visitors with disabilities. Plans are underway to establish accessible toilets nearby.
Other Chennai Beaches (e.g., Thiruvanmiyur)
- The Madras High Court has directed the state government to consider installing ramps and accessibility at all Tamil Nadu beaches, inspired by initiatives at Marina Beach.
- At Thiruvanmiyur Beach, activists have suggested using mobi-mats—portable mats laid over sand—for temporary inclusive access, minimizing environmental disruption. They’ve also recommended beach wheelchairs, drop-off zones, reserved parking, and accessible restroom retrofits .
