In Q2 of 2025, India has overtaken China as the top exporter of smartphones to the United States, while total smartphone exports from India surged past ₹1 lakh crore in the first five months of FY 2025-26—an increase of about 55% compared to the same period the previous year.
This dramatic rise underscores India’s maturation in electronics manufacturing, not just in volume but also in value. From only a couple of smartphone units in 2014 to over 300 units now in production, India’s ecosystem has grown in scale, capability, and global competitiveness. This trajectory can boost jobs, tech skill development, and incentives for further foreign investment in manufacturing.
