  • Name: Chennai One (the “One City, One Ticket” transport/ticketing app).
  • By Whom: Developed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA).
  • When: It is being launched on Monday.

🔧 Key Features

  • Integrates multiple public transport modes under a single QR-based ticket: buses, metro, suburban rail, plus para-transit / last-mile services (autos, cabs etc.).
  • Journey planning, real-time updates on arrivals and departures.
  • Supports digital payment methods (UPI, cards etc.), making the ticketing cashless.
  • Multilingual support (Tamil, English, Telugu, maybe others) to cover diverse users.

🌐 Bigger Plan

  • Alongside the app, the government is releasing a Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP): a 25-year roadmap to guide transport developments in the Chennai metropolitan area.
  • Goal is smoother connectivity, more convenience, reduced congestion & lower emissions, by encouraging use of public and non-motorised transport.
