In response to tighter U.S. H-1B visa regulations, Tata Technologies has said it will step up recruitment of local nationals in the U.S. rather than relying predominantly on Indian-based workers for its engineering services business there. Given that North America accounted for a significant share of its global revenue, the shift underscores how global tech-services firms are re-strategising workforce deployment amid geopolitical and immigration headwinds.
For Indian tech-services companies this means a re-balancing act: sustaining Indian export-oriented engineering while also building local teams overseas. From a talent perspective, professionals may see new roles created domestically (for global servicing) while overseas growth may favour local hiring—so micro-strategies may shift accordingly.
