Ingredients
For momo dough:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 1 tsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Water (as required)
For filling (veg version):
- 1 cup finely shredded cabbage
- ½ cup grated carrot
- ½ cup finely chopped capsicum
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt & pepper to taste
- ½ tsp light soy sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough
- Mix wheat flour, salt, oil & add water slowly to make a soft smooth dough.
- Cover and rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Prepare the filling
- Heat oil in a pan → add onions & sauté 1 minute.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, then vegetables.
- Cook for 3–4 mins on high flame to avoid sogginess.
- Add salt, pepper & soy sauce → mix and cool completely.
- Shape the momos
- Divide dough into small balls → roll thin circles.
- Place 1–2 tsp filling in center.
- Fold into half moon or pleated shape & seal edges properly.
- Cook
- Steam in a steamer for 10–12 minutes until they look shiny and cooked.
- Don’t oversteam or they become chewy.
🌶️ Easy Spicy Red Chutney for Momos
Ingredients
- 6–8 dried red chillies (soaked in hot water)
- 2 tomatoes
- 3–4 garlic cloves
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 tsp oil
Instructions
- Boil tomatoes for 3–4 minutes or microwave for 2 minutes.
- Remove skin and blend tomatoes, soaked chillies, garlic, salt into a smooth paste.
- Heat 1 tsp oil and sauté the paste for 2–3 minutes.
- Add vinegar/lemon juice for balance and cool it down.
