For the upcoming 44-day Magh Mela in Prayagraj, authorities are deploying a ‘Scan to Fix’ technology to maintain a stable electricity supply across the sprawling fairgrounds. Over 15,000 barcoded identifiers will be placed on power infrastructure elements like poles and connections, enabling technicians to quickly locate and fix faults via a central monitoring system. The deployment also includes advanced ring main units to reduce outage recovery times significantly.
This digital upgrade goes beyond traditional grid management by integrating real-time monitoring and rapid response, backed with hybrid solar lighting and an expanded network of substations. With a budget of ₹32 crore and modern backup systems, this initiative exemplifies how smart utilities can support large-scale events with millions of attendees while improving reliability and sustainability in public power infrastructure.
