The prices of vegetables have gone down further in the Chennai Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market.
As there was no increase in sales matching the extra loads arriving at the wholesale market, there was a steep reduction in vegetable prices. This trend has continued for the last 2 months. Yesterday (Sunday, 25th February), the vegetable prices sank further.
Cabbage, which was sold at Rs, 4 per kg last week, is now sold at Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 3. Beetroot, sold at Rs. 7 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 4 per kg. Snake gourd price came down from Rs. 10 per kg to Rs. 7 per kg.
Other vegetable prices in Rupees per kg:
Tomato-7, onion-22, sambar (small) onion-22, brinjal and potato-13, broad beans and okra (lady’s finger)-15, radish-6, carrot-10, drumstick-40, chilli-13.
The traders expect that there will be an increase in vegetable prices only after another month.
