The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has extended the concession on service charges offered for the passengers booking online in order to encourage the trend to book online to facilitate the cashless transaction. This extension will be till March next year.
Lakhs of passengers utilize the services every day the IRCTC online booking facility. Accordingly, while booking tickets online on the website – www.irctc.co.in/eticketing, service charges of up to Rs. 120 were collected for the service depending on the mode of travel (sleeper, a/c, etc.). However, in order to encourage online booking, this service charge was waived until the end of August 2018.
In this situation, to extend the benefit availed thus by the online booking passengers, IRCTC has now announced that the waiver of the service charges will continue until 31st March 2019.
