In a groundbreaking move, Nagpur Police have rolled out “Operation Shakti,” Maharashtra’s first AI-powered anti-trafficking initiative. The system combines the AI-driven ‘Garuda Drishti’ platform—which scans social media for digital scams and illicit ads—with eight real-time facial recognition cameras placed strategically in trafficking hotspots. This tech enables rapid case filing under legal frameworks like the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the ITPA, leading to swift raids and immediate action.
This initiative is quickly becoming a model for law enforcement across India. Using historic data to pinpoint vulnerable zones, the system strengthens surveillance, improves detection rates, and enhances public safety. By smartly leveraging technology in the fight against crime, “Operation Shakti” is paving the way for AI to play a vital role in social justice and urban security.
