Coronavirus Update: One more case in TN. A traveler from Spain tests Covid_19 positive. Total is 7.

All places in Chennai is empty, people following JanataCurfew showing unity. Only in Chennai Central Station, several people are stranded as their trains have been cancelled. Most are from WB, Bihar and UP.

Coronavirus Update – 6PM

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced suspension of services between 10 am and 4 pm from March 23 to March 31 to discourage non-essential travel by the public. The trains will run from 6 am to 8 am enabling citizens engaging in essential services to commute, and from 8 am to 10 am for the office-goers. Similarly, the services will be operational between 4 pm and 8 pm in the evening. Metro trains will not be operational between 4.30 am and 6 am, 10 am and 4 pm and 8 pm and 11 pm.

Earlier, the CMRL had announced that it will be operating one train every seven minutes instead of one train every five minutes from March 23 to March 31. The CMRL had also announced that in response to the Prime Minister’s call to observe a curfew from 7 am to 9 pm on March 22, it will be suspending its services fully on Sunday.

The state government has also announced that all educational institutions, cinema theatres, entertainment centres, amusement parks, shopping malls etc be shut down till March 31 as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.

Coronavirus Update – 11AM

Indian Railways has cancelled 3,700 trains for JanataCurfew March22 Sunday. No trains will start from Saturday night 11:59 PM to Sunday night 10:00 PM.

On March 22 – Sunday JanataCurfew from 7 AM to 9 PM, Tamilnadu to shut down public transport Only essential supplies- milk, vegetables, medicines & fuel  will be open. Restaurants across Tamilnadu to remain shut, only Amma Unavagams will be open.

ICSE board class 10,12 exams postponed till March 31

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Chief Executive Gerry Arathoon said the exams have been postponed till March 31

The ICSE board on Thursday postponed class 10 and 12 examinations due to the novel coronavirus threat, officials said. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Chief Executive Gerry Arathoon said the exams have been postponed till March 31.

On Wednesday, he had said the exams will be conducted as per the schedule after the CBSE announced it has postponed exams till March 31.
