Why is an e-pass needed now?
Starting April 1, 2025, the Tamil Nadu government has made e-passes mandatory for vehicles entering Ooty (Nilgiris) and Kodaikanal (Dindigul). This rule is based on a directive from the Madras High Court to regulate the influx of tourists and reduce traffic congestion and environmental impact in these eco-sensitive hill stations.
Vehicle Entry Limits:
- Ooty:
- Weekdays: Maximum 6,000 vehicles/day
- Weekends: Maximum 8,000 vehicles/day
- Kodaikanal:
- Weekdays: Maximum 4,000 vehicles/day
- Weekends: Maximum 6,000 vehicles/day

- Register/Login: Provide personal details, travel dates, vehicle info, and accommodation proof.
- Upload Documents: ID proof, vehicle registration certificate, hotel booking, etc.
