Wettest day of the year for Chennai as heavy rains lash Chennai, next spell to start now in the city and we have more rains today till tomorrow morning to get rains before heading for a big break.

As expected it turned out to be the wettest day of the year in Chennai with three figure rainfall in the city and today too more rains are expected. Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur all have got very heavy rains.

Again on and off rains are expected like yesterday with some heavy spells in between. With today rain of 100 mm Chennai has got 350 mm rain of the total 850 mm rainfall for the season. Had the clouds moved in yesterday morning all the places would have got close to 200 mm. I will be happy with another another 50-60 mm in the Chennai city rainfall . We need 4-5 more spell like this. So our monsoon will end on normal for the city
