A landmark technology-transfer agreement has been signed between NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), ISRO, IN-SPACe, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) regarding the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) program. This deal transfers crucial know-how and manufacturing capabilities, enabling broader participation of HAL in India’s space technology ecosystem.
This agreement strengthens India’s small satellite launch capacity—important for both domestic and commercial satellite missions. With lower launch costs and faster turnaround, SSLVs enable rapid deployment of observational, communication, or Earth-monitoring satellites. The move also supports India’s growing ambitions in space sector privatization, international partnerships, and space export markets.
