Indian Railways to Offer 10% Rebate on Vacant Berths from 1st Jan 2017

Indian Railways has decided a 10 percent rebate in basic fare on vacant seats in reserved categories, including AC and Sleeper class, in all trains after preparation of first chart starting January 1, 2017. The scheme was earlier started in premium trains like Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi but now railway has started to extend it to other express and mail trains on an experimental basis for six months. Reservation fee and superfast charge as applicable shall be levied in full and service tax etc. as applicable shall be levied. The Railway ministry also said that 10% discount shall also be applicable for allotment of vacant berths (due to passengers who have not turned up) in the train by TTEs.
