The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched a fresh call for proposals (June 23–July 15) under the RE‑RTD programme aiming to drive circular economy innovation in solar PV and battery technologies. The objective: develop solutions around design, second‑life reuse, recycling, and operational management to close resource loops and enhance sustainability.
With rising concerns over raw material scarcity and e-waste, this challenge spotlights India’s intent to make its clean energy sector eco-conscious by design. Funding extends from small-scale proof-of-concept grants (up to ₹10 lakh) to ₹2 cr for proven systems. This push can shape green tech startups, scaling innovations for sustainable deployment across the solar and EV battery lifecycle.
