New Technology & Innovation Conclave to Replace Science Congress in November

India is all set to witness a major shift in its scientific and innovation ecosystem. After running for more than a century, the Indian Science Congress (ISC) is being replaced with a brand-new platform – the Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC). The inaugural edition will be held from November 3 to 5, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Why the Change?

The Indian Science Congress, first held in 1914, has played a significant role in bringing together scientists, researchers, and policymakers. However, in recent years, it faced criticism for being less impactful, outdated in format, and often overshadowed by controversies.

To give science and innovation in India a fresh, future-focused platform, the Department of Science & Technology (DST) is introducing ESTIC – a conclave designed to align with India’s vision of becoming a global leader in technology and innovation by 2047.

What to Expect at ESTIC 2025?

Unlike the traditional Science Congress, ESTIC will focus on emerging technologies and innovation-driven growth. Some key highlights include:

  • 11 Thematic Sessions: Covering advanced fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, semiconductors, space, clean energy, and more.
  • Innovation Showcase: Around 75 stalls featuring cutting-edge startups and 100 research posters by young scientists.
  • PitchX – Startup Pitching Arena: A platform where 10 selected deep-tech startups will pitch their ideas to investors, mentors, and policymakers.
  • Global Participation: International experts, Nobel laureates, and leading scientists from across the world will share their insights.
  • Policy-Industry-Academia Collaboration: Creating a bridge between researchers, industries, and the government for real-world impact.

ESTIC vs. Indian Science Congress

While ISC focused largely on broad scientific discussions, ESTIC will emphasize practical innovation, deep-tech research, and commercialization opportunities. It aims to become a hub for startups, innovators, and global collaborations, putting India at the center of the world’s innovation map.

A Step Towards Viksit Bharat 2047

The shift from ISC to ESTIC is more than just a name change—it reflects India’s commitment to innovation-led growth. By focusing on high-tech sectors, empowering youth, and encouraging global collaboration, ESTIC is expected to play a critical role in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

Final Thoughts

The upcoming Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave marks a new era in India’s scientific journey. By replacing the century-old Science Congress with a modern, innovation-driven platform, India is setting the stage to lead the world in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
