A new uniform will be introduced for the students in higher classes from 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Standards in the government and government-aided schools.
The state government of Tamil Nadu distributes free uniforms for both the boys and girls students from the 1st Standard to the 8th Standard in the government and government-aided schools.
However, the schools themselves select the uniform for the higher class students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Standards. Thus, there is a variety of uniforms in different schools for the higher class students. Even the high schools located very near to each other have 2 different uniforms for their higher class students.
So, the state government of Tamil Nadu has taken a decision to opt for the same uniform for the higher class students in all government and government-aided schools.
As per this, for the 9th and 10th class boy students, the shirts will be in light red colour and the full-length pants will be in grey (ash) colour. For the girls, the salwar will be in light red colour and the kameez and the waistcoat will be in grey colour.
For the 11th and 12th Standard boy students in all the government and government-aided schools, the shirt will be with blue stripes. The full-length pants will be in navy-blue colour. For the girl students, the salwar will be with blue stripes and the kameez and the waistcoat will be in navy-blue colour.
An interesting aspect is that this the 1st ever time in the whole country when the same uniforms are being adopted for all the government and government-aided school students throughout the state. This will come into effect from the coming academic year.
