Bank of Baroda Supercharges bob इ Pay App with Global UPI Capabilities
Bank of Baroda has introduced a major enhancement to its UPI app, bob इ Pay, by rolling out three international features designed for seamless cross-border digital banking for both domestic and NRI customers:
- UPI Global Acceptance
- Enables users to make QR-based payments abroad—from their Indian bank account.
- Active in eight countries: Mauritius, Singapore, UAE, USA, France, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan.
- Transaction details include both local and INR value, plus exchange rates and fees for transparency.
- Foreign Inward Remittance (from Singapore)
- Singapore residents can send real-time UPI payments to recipients in India using the recipient’s UPI ID/VPA.
- Funds are received directly in Indian Rupees into the beneficiary’s UPI-linked account.
- UPI Services for NRIs
- NRI customers can now link their NRE/NRO accounts to the bob इ Pay app using a domestic mobile number.
- Once linked, they can use UPI for peer-to-peer transfers and merchant payments while visiting India.
All transactions are capped at a per-day and per-transaction limit of ₹1,00,000—equivalent to domestic UPI limits. The features are available as part of the bob इ Pay International upgrade.
TL;DR
- Global UPI Acceptance: Pay abroad with bob इ Pay in 8 countries.
- Foreign Remittance: Receive funds from Singapore via UPI.
- NRI UPI Functionality: NRIs can use UPI in India with their accounts.
This move substantially strengthens cross-border banking, making international transactions simpler and friendlier for Indian and NRI customers.
