According to meteorological office it is now clear that the city of Chennai would have dry weather for the next two days. In the last 2 weeks, the day time weather has been unpredictable and this day time weather has come to normal now.
On Friday, 17th August 2018, the maximum temperature recorded in Nungambakkam was 35.6 Celsius. The maximum temperature was in the range of 36 Celsius to 38 Celsius in the past 2 weeks. In this week this maximum temperature went down to 31 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius. There were showers every day in the last 2 weeks is known. The important piece of information from IMD officials now is there will not be any rains on Saturday. Until 8:30 am on Friday in the 24 hours, Nungambakkam recorded 6.5mm rainfall and Meenambakkam recorded 5.4mm of rainfall.
The situation in the western parts of Tamil Nadu was different. These parts had heavy rainfall on Friday. Many parts of TN recorded heavy to exceptionally heavy rainfall in the 24 hours till 8:30 am on Friday. Chinnakalar in Coimbatore received the highest rainfall of 26cm. Valparai in Coimbatore received 21cm of rainfall followed by Devala with 11cm, Periyar with 9cm, Naduvattam and Sengottai both received 7cm of rainfall.
From Sunday, the intensity of southwest monsoon rainfall over Kerala and western TN would reduce drastically. This was confirmed by Mr. Pradeep John who is a popular weather blogger. As per the weathermen it is now brought out that the weakening of southwest monsoon might produce rainfall in Chennai.
