Polio Drop administration camps are being organised throughout Tamil Nadu on Sunday, 19th January.
It has been mandatory since the year 1995 to administer polio drops to the children up to 5 years’ old.
It must be mentioned that after the year 1998, there have been NO cases of polio affecting any child. However, with the objective that the adverse effects of polio must be completely eradicated in the state of Tamil Nadu, the children are being administered polio drops.
A target to administer a total of 72 Lakhs children with polio drops has been set by the Health Department through the polio administration camps to be conducted throughout the state on 19th January.
The Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Health has decided to set up more than 50000 camps this time.
Polio drops administration will be done in the camps from 7.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
As regards the Chennai Metro Coty, polio drops are planned to be administered on 7.03 Lakhs children under 5 years of age on behalf of the Public Health Department and Disease Prevention Department.
1645 camps have been set up for this purpose. In case the polio drops administration could not be done for any children, the field staff will visit the houses of these children in the subsequent days to administer polio drops.
