26-11-2020 06:00AM: IMD and Weather bloggers Update: Cyclone Nivar has finally made landfall just north of Pondicherry. As Cyclone Nivar pushes towards NW TN, rains will increase in interiors. Chennai will have intermittent rains and winds will be gusty over the next few hours and it will reduce gradually.

25-11-2020 5:45PM: Chennai Metro rail services will be suspend from today 8 pm. Last trains from all terminals will depart at 7 pm. Services for tomorrow will depend on weather conditions.

Chennai Airport suspends Flight operations from 7pm today to 7am tomorrow.

25-11-2020 4:45PM: IMD and Weather bloggers update: Very heavy to extreme rainfall possible from evening onwards in North Tamil Nadu. Wind speed is picking up. Stay indoors as Cyclone Nivar is all set to make landfall in next 12 hours.

25-11-2020 1:45PM: Tamil Nadu Govt declared Public holiday on Thursday for 13 districts including Chennai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, etc. due to Cyclone Nivar.

25-11-2020 12.30PM: IMD says Cyclone Nivar landfall likely between Karaikkal in Puducherry and Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu sometime between the night of November 25 and early hours of November 26.

25-11-2020 11.30AM: Chennai Corporation Commissioner instructs officials and owners to remove all the hoardings/ banners etc in the city at the earliest before 12 pm today (25.11.2020) to avoid any danger.

25-11-2020 11AM: Chembarambakkam Lake will be opened at 12PM today. 1,000 cusecs of water will be initially released. Alert given to people living in low lying areas and in bank of adyar river. Stay safe.
