TN Govt announced Complete lockdown in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet districts from June 19 – June 30.

Guidelines for lockdown in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet districts from June 19 – June 30:

  • Only essential services and travel for medical emergencies will be permitted in the 4 districts.
  • People advised to travel only within 2 kms from their house to buy essentials.
  • Grocery shops, vegetable shops and petrol bunks can function between 6.00 am and 2.00 pm.
  • Hospitals, pharmacies, labs and ambulances – operational.
  • Autos, taxi cabs – allowed only for medical emergencies.
  • Banks allowed to function only on June 29 and June 30 with 33% workforce. ATMs will be open all throughout.
  • Central govt and state govt depts allowed to function with 33% workforce. Employees from containment areas can be at home.
  • All PDS shops, except in containment zones, open from 8am – 2pm.
  • Hotels will be allowed to function from 6am to 8pm only for takeaway services. Tea shops not allowed.
  • E-passes for people who wish to travel out of Chennai will be issued only for weddings, deaths and medical emergencies.
  • For people coming into these 4 districts from outside the state through air, trains or ships, existing guidelines will be applicable.
  • Courts, media organisations can function.
  • Construction companies providing stay for labourers inside the site can function.
  • Amma Unavagams and community kitchens will be open.

*None of these relaxations will be applicable for the two Sundays that fall between June 19 – June 30.
